Suehiro Flattening Stone

Description

Suehiro’s Flattening Stones are high quality at an affordable price. Each stone is 8-1/8″ x 2-1/16″ x 1-1/16″ (206mm x 53mm x 27mm) with large grooves for water and ground material to flow away.

Just pencil a grid pattern on the stone you wish to flatten and rub it over the flattening stone until the lines disappear. For larger stones, it may work better to rub the flattening stone over the waterstone.

Suehiro recommends soaking the flattening stone in water for 5 minutes prior to use. Prepare your waterstone as you would before using it to sharpen. If you normally soak your stone, soak it before flattening. If you normally splash and sharpen, splash before flattening.

Grits

The coarse stone is 100 grit black silicon carbide and should be used for coarse to medium (100-500 grit) waterstones.

The medium stone is 280 grit white alumina and should be used for medium to fine (1000-6000) waterstones.
