Description

The Lock Technology 4-Piece Shockit Socket O2 Sensor Removal Kit (994) is a specialized tool designed to tackle the most challenging O2 sensor and diesel NOx sensor removal tasks. Engineered to work where traditional ratchets, wrenches, and sockets fail, this air hammer-powered system applies focused, hypersonic vibration to break loose seized or obstructed sensors. This method effectively separates the sensor from its mounting threads, eliminating the common problem of thread galling and preventing damage to critical components. This kit provides a comprehensive and efficient solution for both professional technicians and automotive enthusiasts, saving significant time and effort on difficult jobs.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Air Hammer-Powered Efficiency: The kit’s central feature is its ability to be driven by a standard air hammer. This provides a level of force and precision that is unmatched by manual tools, allowing it to easily remove frozen or rusted sensors.
  • Access in Limited Space: The low-profile and long-profile sockets, combined with the angled punch, are specifically designed to reach sensors in tight and recessed areas, eliminating the need to perform costly and time-consuming tasks like removing catalytic converters or dropping motor mounts.
  • Prevents Thread Damage: The hypersonic vibration effectively breaks the bond of rust and corrosion, ensuring that the sensor and its mounting hole threads remain intact. This prevents galling and saves the user from having to perform expensive repairs on damaged threads.
  • Versatile Application: The kit is not limited to just O2 sensors. It is also highly effective for removing 22mm NOx sensors on various heavy-duty diesel engines, including those from Kenworth®, Cummins®, International®, Detroit, and Volvo®.
  • Comprehensive Solution: The kit includes an 18mm thread chaser, which allows for the thorough cleaning and restoration of threads on both the removed sensor and the mounting hole, ensuring proper installation of the new sensor.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Included Components:
    • LT994-1: 22mm Short Socket
    • LT994-2: 22mm Deep Socket
    • LT994-3: 18mm Thread Chaser
    • LT1910P: 11″ Standard Punch
  • Tool Compatibility: Standard air hammer

HOW TO USE:

  1. Select the Socket: Choose the appropriate 22mm socket (short or deep) based on the sensor’s location and access.
  2. Prepare the Air Hammer: Insert the 11-inch standard punch (LT1910P) into the chuck of your air hammer.
  3. Position the Socket: Place the selected socket onto the O2 or NOx sensor.
  4. Align the Punch: Align the tip of the punch with one of the indexed holes on the socket’s dual-ear design.
  5. Apply Vibration: Activate the air hammer, applying short bursts to transfer vibration and rotational force through the punch to the socket, which will begin to loosen the sensor.
  6. Reposition as Needed: The dual-ear socket design allows for repositioning and a 90-degree rotation without removing the socket from the sensor.
  7. Remove the Sensor: Once loosened, carefully remove the sensor.
  8. Clean Threads: Use the 18mm thread chaser (LT994-3) to clean and restore the threads on the mounting hole before installing the new sensor.
