Description
These threaded inserts are hollow brass cylinders with large wood-screw threads on the outside and machine-screw threads on the inside.They provide an extremelystrong and reliable way to join wood for easy disassembly.Unlike more commonly available T-nuts, these inserts can be used in blind-stopped holes, leaving visiblesurfaces unmarred.
Installation
One end of the insert has slot for driving it into a pre-drilled hole. You can drive it in using a screwdriver (with care) or ourdriver bit, which is made specifically to drive these inserts. A little wax on the external threads makes installation easier. Internal threads are standard for stove bolts,machine screws, carriage bolts and threaded rod.
If you’re only installing a few inserts, you can alos use a bolt and jam nuts (see video below). When using this method, be careful, the brass is soft and easy to damage.
Please Note: We do NOT recommend our Threaded Insert T Wrench for use with these brass threaded inserts. It can damage the soft brass in these inserts.
