Description
ReadyTrace 50 ft. Self-Regulating Heat Trace Cables (READYTRACE-050) provides essential freeze protection for both residential and commercial buildings. This 120V, self-regulating heating system is specifically engineered to prevent damage caused by freezing temperatures to pipes, roofs, and gutters. Proudly manufactured in the United States, ReadyTrace systems are designed for simple, effective, and reliable performance, ensuring your assets are protected throughout the winter season. The 50-foot length offers substantial coverage for various applications, including longer pipe runs and expansive roof surfaces.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- Self-Regulating Heat Output: The cable automatically adjusts its heat output based on the ambient temperature, providing more heat when it’s colder and less when it’s warmer. This dynamic adjustment leads to energy efficiency and prevents overheating, even if the cable overlaps itself. It actively increases power when exposed to ice and snow, then reduces output once the area is clear.
- Ready-to-Install Design: Ships fully assembled with a pre-attached, lighted NEMA 5-15 plug, making installation quick and efficient. The lighted plug provides a visual indication of operation.
- Versatile Application: Approved and designed for a broad range of uses, including safeguarding small and medium-diameter pipes (steel, copper, cast iron, aluminum, and plastic) from freezing, and preventing ice dams on roofs, gutters, and downspouts.
- Robust Construction: Built with high-quality materials, including nickel-plated copper bus wires, a durable semiconductive heating matrix, and a protective polyolefin overjacket, ensuring longevity and reliable operation in harsh environmental conditions.
- Safety Assured: Certified to UL and CSA safety standards for ordinary (non-classified) areas, the self-regulating nature prevents overheating, even when the cable is overlapped, providing a safe solution for freeze protection.
- Made in the USA: Designed and manufactured in the United States at an award-winning lean manufacturing facility, ensuring superior quality and performance.

HOW TO USE:
- Assess Your Application: Determine the specific area requiring freeze protection, such as pipes, roofs, or gutters. Measure the length needed to ensure the 50 ft. cable provides adequate coverage, accounting for any turns or multiple runs.
- Prepare the Surface: Ensure the application surface (pipe, roof edge, gutter) is clean and free of debris. For pipe applications, insulate the pipe after cable installation for optimal performance.
- Position the Cable: Lay the ReadyTrace cable along the pipe, within the gutter, or along the roof edge according to the manufacturer’s specific installation guidelines for your chosen application. Ensure good contact with the surface.
- Secure the Cable: Use appropriate mechanical fasteners or tape (available separately from ReadyTrace accessories) to secure the cable firmly in place. Ensure the cable is not excessively bent beyond its recommended bending radius.
- Connect to Power: Plug the lighted NEMA 5-15 plug into a GFCI-protected 120V electrical outlet. It is crucial that the circuit is GFCI protected for safety. If a GFCI outlet is not available, an inline GFCI option from ReadyTrace accessories must be used.
- Monitor Operation: The lighted plug will indicate that the cable is receiving power and operating. The self-regulating nature of the cable will automatically adjust heat output as temperatures fluctuate.
