Saws aren’t just for cutting wood! Almost as long as saws have been around, people have played music on them. Thomas Flinn & Co. developed this saw with English player Charles Hindmarsh. It has a beech handle and carbon steel blade – just like their standard hand saws, but they made a few changes for safety when making music. The teeth aren’t set or sharpened and they stop about 4″ from the bottom of the blade. The 26″ saw has a tenor voice with a range from low A to high C.
Musical saws are played with a bow, like stringed instruments. This starter kit includes a bow, rosin and a “cheater” handle. The Cheater handle gives you more leverage to bend the saw for while playing.See instructions below.
